Email your MP to suspend technical assistance to Bahraini oversight bodies

For 19 days over 50 political prisoners were subject to enforced disappearance at Jau Prison in Bahrain after riot police violently suppressed a ‘sit in’ on 17 April 2021 held by inmates at Buildings 12,13 and 14 to protest punitive restrictions introduced following the death of Abbas Malallah on 6 April amid reports of medical negligence.

So far, the UK has failed to condemn the attack, enforced disappearance and subsequent torture of political prisoners in Bahrain. Instead the UK has directed victims to internationally criticised oversight bodies, to which the UK has provided training using tax-payer's money.

Urge your MP to sign EDM 96 calling on the UK government to suspend technical assistance to Bahraini oversight bodies that have whitewashed the torture and abuse of over 50 political prisoners.
